| Karl Hammond moves up to a Post-Doc at Berkley after a stellar PhD program at UMASS wherein he publishes an unpresedented >9 papers, teaches the UO lab and contributes to the local music (see above). Moreover, Karl was crucial in maintaining CHIEF. Karl, you will be greatly missed! Future excellence in your career is certain!!! |

| Marvin Schlanger gave the annual Tang Lecture for the School of Engineering. Marve talked about our future energy needs and recommended many ways to achieve energy independance. The new Introduction to Energy Engineering class (ChE 290A) welcomed the perspective!!! |
AIChE Annual Meeting |

| Over a dozen undergraduates joined the Faculty, Graduate students and Alumni at the AIChE meeting in Nashville. The Undergraduates placed second in the Chem-E Car Poster competition and in the top 10 in the actual competition. A good time was also had in the center of Country Music!!! |

| As UMASS Lacrosse team captained by ChE senior Joe Reale rises into the top 10, the game against Syracuse (ranked 2) on 25 April is crucial!!! CHIEF will host a tailgate celebration prior to the game (starting at 11:30AM) at McGuirk stadium. CHIEF will supply Nathans hotdogs and welcome all BYOB contributions.
